"You Are Not Alone" Mural at the Old Worthington Library
Basic details
Background
These photos show the "You Are Not Alone" mural that hangs in the Old Worthington Library. Designed by Thomas Worthington High School student Andrea Nadolny, the mural was created to raise awareness of suicide and suicide prevention as part of Nadolny's Girl Scout Gold Award project. Following a friend's suicide, Nadolny conceived of the project as a way to help those suffering mental health crises know that they are not alone.
The mural depicts the words "You Are Not Alone" in a center circle, surrounded by over 300 handprints in paint. The handprints were left by library patrons at three events during the summer of 2021. The mural was installed in this location on the east wall at the Old Worthington Library in August, 2021.
