Background
Pictured here are Mr. Stanley Snouffer and sons, (left to right) Ray, Elmer, Paul, Stanley, Leslie, and Steve. Stanley (b. 1877, d. 1970), a carpenter by trade, lived in the Worthington area all his life. Ray owned and operated Snouffer Dry Cleaners. Elmer was a furniture maker and volunteer fireman for the Sharon Township Fire Department. Paul was a local architect with the Lawrence and Snouffer Architecture Firm. Steve served as Postmaster in Worthington and also worked at Worthington Hardware Store. Leslie lived in Delaware, Ohio. This photograph was taken at a gun club in Delaware County on Rt. 36.
The Snouffer men descended from John (b. ca. 1779, d. 1823, Frederick, Maryland) and Mary Magdelena Snouffer (b. 1784, d. 1868). Mary and her eight children were among the second wave of families that migrated to the Worthington area in the early mid-1800s.
