Basic details
Background
This is the program for the Worthington High School production of "Hello Dolly." The play was presented on March 18, 19, 25, and 26, 1977, in the Kilbourne Auditorium at the high school.
The cover shows an ink drawing of the title "Hello Dolly" and a woman wearing a dress and hat and holding a folded parasol. The cover illustration also includes a heart enclosing the words "Worthington High School Music Dept. March 18, 19, 25, 26." The illustration is signed by David de Hilster. "1976-1977" is written in the upper right-hand corner. Page two lists the cast, singers, and dancers; page three lists scenes and musical numbers; and page four lists professional patrons.
The production was directed by Bronwynn Hopton, who taught drama at Worthington High School/Thomas Worthington High School from 1973-2013. In 1988, she founded the Worthington High School Theatre Repertory. Countless alumni cite her influence for their love of theater, or even their professional success in the field. An October 24, 2010 "Columbus Dispatch" article quotes her as saying, "Theater is not just a superfluous after-school event, but something we study that deserves the same focus as science, math or history. " Her first name graces the Bronwynn Theatre at the McConnell Arts Center.
