Background

This picture shows Henry L. and Mary Ann Smith in their backyard at their home at 60 West Short Street. Henry Smith was employed as a Steam Shovel Operator according to the 1928 Worthington Directory and census records. He had one daughter, Geraldine, with his first wife Pearl Rowe, who died in 1916. On October 20, 1920, Smith married Mary Ann Hauk, and the couple purchased the home at 60 West Short Street in 1921. The couple had four daughters, Audrey, Emmagene, Annabel and Mary Lou. They were members of the Worthington Methodist Church, and are buried at Walnut Grove.
