Background

The photograph depicts a banner over High Street at the south end of the Village Green, advertising Worthington's Sesquicetennial celebration. The celebration involved the entire community with the highlight being a pageant, "The Whetstone Venture", written and directed by Frank Corbin, local historian.
The cast was drawn from the community and was presented on three nights in Hartford Park, at the corner of Stafford and Morning Streets.
