Background

This group of school children was photographed standing in front east door of Worthington School ca. 1891. The school was built in 1874, located on the northeast quadrant of the village green, facing State Street (now Granville Road). Both elementary and high school grades attended this school until a separate high school was built in 1893. School children have been identified as: Top center - C.J. Showalter, Principal. Back row, standing left to right - Etta Beaver, Etta Medick, Kate Conner, Henry Pingree, James Fletcher, Herbert Hard, Asher Brand, Harry Fuller, Isac Hermom, Will Fuller, Dan Conner, Walter Smith, Charley Legg, Harry Huggell, Joe Webster. Middle row standing - Eva Toomer(?), Elsie Snouffer, Mila Griswold, (?), Bessie Herman, (?), Maggie Barton, Elsie Stickney, (?), (?), (?) Fletcher, Lizzie Noble, Arty Jackson, Percy Wright, Russell McRill, Charlie Beam.
