Commemorative coins were minted in 1978 to note the historic event of New England Lodge No. 4 being issued a charter by the Grand Lodge of Connecticut 175 years earlier. The Lodge was originally chartered as New England Lodge No. 48 by that governing body in Connecticut on October 19, 1803.
