Worthington Griswold and John McCullough on East Granville Road

This photograph of two boys playing is part of Harriet Griswold McCullough's scrapbook from around 1915. The boys pictured are cousins John McCullough (b. 1911, d. 1942) and Worthington "Worthy" Griswold Fletcher (b. 1909, d. 1932). John McCullough was the son of Harriet Griswold and Edward "Miles" McCullough. Worthington Fletcher was the son of William Harding and Caroline Griswold Fletcher. They were the grandsons of Worthington Franklin Griswold, and great-great-grandsons of pioneer Ezra Griswold. In this photograph the boys are playing in front of 202 E. Granville Road where the McCullough family resided in 1915. The Gilbert-Wilcox house, at 196 E. Granville Road, is also visible on the left side of the image.

John McCullough was raised primarily in Columbus, and Worthington Fletcher lived in the Cleveland area during his lifetime. Both were killed in tragic accidents early in life; McCullough when on duty as a motorcycle patrolman for the Columbus Police Department and Fletcher was in an automobile accident in Hartford, Connecticut where he was a student at Trinity College. Both men are buried at Walnut Grove Cemetery.
