Village of Worthington Marker
Basic details
Background
This is a portion of one of four original village markers installed at various locations around Worthington. Due to weathering, this portion of a village marker was replaced. This original piece is now located in the Worthington Room at the Old Worthington Library, 820 High Street. Mrs. George Harding III spearheaded the drive to install village markers in 1942. Mrs. Harding presented the first of four markers to the Worthington Women's Club, who then donated it to the Village to be placed at one of four entrances to old Worthington. The markers were designed and executed by Horace Fletcher, nationally known ironwork artist, of Gates Mills. Plans were made at the time to execute three more markers at the other entrances to the village.
