Program from Memorial Day, 1890

This program is from Memorial Day on May 30th, 1890. A parade of the Mary Todd Lincoln Circle of the G.A.R.(Grand Army of the Republic) and the Henry C. Burr Post G.A.R., No. 711 progressed from East Granville Road, south on High Street to Walnut Grove Cemetery for Decoration of the Graves. The parade was followed by basket picnicking, speaking and singing at the Normal School (known first as the Female Seminary). T. E. Taylor was the Grand Marshal. Other Worthington residents listed in the program include James Wright and Fred Johnson, Aids, E. P. Sharp, Chairman and T. F. Barrett, Mayor. Officers of the Henry C. Burr Post No. 711 are listed as Captain William Pinney, Commander; James H. Rice, S.V. Commander; Elias Barker, J.V. Commander; T.E. Taylor, Adjutant; James Waldorf, Quartermaster; Henry Stickney, Officer of the Day; R. M. Parsons, Chaplain; Dickerson Welling, M.D., Surgeon; A. Sterns,Officer of the Guard and W.H. Dorherty, Ensign.
