Photograph of Wedding at the Old Worthington Library, May 8, 1982
Basic details
Background
This color photograph shows the wedding ceremony of librarian Rachel Alexander and Bob Foulk at the Old Worthington Library on May 8, 1982.
Alexander and Foulk are shown standing on the steps at the right of the photo; facing them is the then-Mayor of Worthington, Lawrence Braun, who officiated. Behind them on the landing is a music ensemble comprised of a harpsichord, violin and oboe. At the left of the photo is the crowd watching the wedding.
At the time, the Old Worthington Library was the only location of Worthington Libraries. The wedding took place that Saturday night, after the library closed, with food contributed by library staff. The view is taken from the main floor looking down at the landing, stairs and lower level. Following a building renovation, the space at the top of the photo is now occupied by a portion of the library's children's department.
Alexander worked for Worthington Libraries from 1976 to 1985, and again from 1997 to 2008; during that time she served many roles, including community services librarian, children’s librarian, youth services manager and youth services materials selector.
