Ozem Gardner Gravestone

Background
This is the gravestone of Ozem Gardner (b. 1797, d. 1880) at Flint Cemetery. Gardner was an active member of the Antislavery Society of Worthington and operated an underground railroad station from his property, a 65-acre farmstead on Flint Road. He sold one acre of his farm for a cemetery in 1864, now known as the Flint Cemetery. Ozem Gardner's grave is on the brow of the hill to the east. The gravestone reads "Ozem Gardner Died Apr, 19, 1880 Aged 83 Y. 2 M. 7 D, Hymnals from his labors and his works do follow him."
