The Ohio Masonic Historical Society and the John Snow Homestead
Basic details
Background
This booklet, reprinted from the Proceedings of the Grand Lodge of Ohio, provides a brief biography of John Snow, one of the most noted Master Masons in the State of Ohio. Written by Charles Plumb, President of the Ohio Masonic Historical Society at the time, the booklet details plans for maintaining the Snow Homestead, a.k.a. the Snow House as a memorial to John Snow. The Snow house was in the possession of the Snow family from its construction in 1816 to 1935. An arrangement was then made to transfer the deed from Eva Snow (great-granddaughter of John Snow) to the Ohio Masonic Historical Society on condition that Miss Snow receive $40 per month and be provided with use of the house as residence. Those conditions were not met and the property reverted to Miss Snow in 1938. Snow House is located at 41 West New England Avenue and currently serves as suites for the Worthington Inn.
