Background

This is one several letters written to Mary Johnson of Worthington, Ohio from Damaris Solomon of Reynoldsburg, Ohio. Solomon expresses her disappointment that so much time has passed since Johnson has written her. She continues by writing about teaching and learning to make wax flowers. She says that when the school year is over, she would like to visit Worthington and possibly teach others to make flowers. She concludes the letter by asking Johnson to send love to certain acquaintances including Johnson's mother.

Mary was daughter of one of Worthington's founders, Orange Johnson and wife Achsa (Maynard) Johnson. She married Francis Sessions on August 18, 1847.

Damaris Solomon (also known as D. R. Solomon), was a long-time friend of Mary's from the Worthington Female Seminary school.
