Background

Ida May Carruthers Jewett (b. 1866, d. 1960) is pictured here. She was the oldest of two children of Joseph P. Carruthers and Marietta Pinney Carruthers. Joseph Carruthers (b. 1842, d. 1897) farmed part of the old Pinney homestead south of Worthington. Ida was the great great granddaughter of Azariah Pinney, one of the founders of Worthington. She taught at her aunt Weltha Pinney's kindergarten in Columbus, and at F. F. Pinney's school for dancing. Ida married Dr. Charles Elliot Jewett (b. 1868, d. 1944) in 1894. They built a home at 5360 Linworth Rd. (formerly known as Olentangy River Rd.) ca. 1900.
