Background
The 1880 commencement program of Worthington Public Schools documents the graduation ceremony for Worthington's first high school graduates. Worthington School offered the first public high school and elementary classes in Worthington beginning with the 1879-1880 school year. Graduates of the class of 1880 were Mary Skeele and Nellie Wright.
Numerous students from lower classes performed at the graduation and are listed with graduation years as available: Phillip Skeele, John Hannon, Archie Tuller, John DeVault, Annie Pinney (1889), Albert Pingree (1889), Clara Anderson, George Tuller, Ida Scott (1889), Harry Smith, Hattie Griswold (1887), Grace Gilbert (1886), Lida Jackson (1884), Annie Johnson (1886), Daniel Wright (1886), Mary Griswold (1884), Ida Snouffer, Emma Scott (1881), Anna B DeVault, Mattie [Hattie] Skeele (1889), Julia L. Holt (1883), Ida Wright (1885), May G. Comstock, Mary E. Anderson, Thos. S. Brelsford, Justin Pinney, Charles Young and J.F. Wright (1881).
