A 1977 graduate of Worthington High School, Tyler's career spanned more than four decades as an Emmy Award-winning broadcast journalist at WBNS-TV in Columbus and WCBS-TV in New York. In 2007, she was recognized as a Distinguished Alumni of Worthington Schools for her contributions to her profession.
During the celebration, she shared stories of her and her family's connections to Worthington and central Ohio. As a child, she attended Girl Scout meetings in the Worthington United Methodist Church. In high school, she was involved in cheerleading, student council and the school newspaper.
The 2025 Martin Luther King, Jr. Community Celebration was presented by the Worthington Community Relations Commission, in partnership with the Worthington Libraries, Worthington Schools, Worthington Alliance of Black Families and Educators and Worthington United Methodist Church. The planning committee was comprised of Shawna LaRue Moraille, Darnell Perkins, Toya Spencer, Kathy Starks, Desi Thomas, Kisha Gunn, Karrie Horton, Anne Brown and Riley Hoover.
