The Chronicle
Vol. X, No. 15
Basic details
Background
The front page of this edition features updates to several ongoing issues, specifically the Worthington City Council ordinance prohibiting the sale of non-returnable bottles and cans in the city, which was proposed by Worthington High School students earlier in the month; the student-led campaign to create a smoking area at the school; and the effect of voter registration on this year’s Student Council officers’ election. The first two articles are accompanied by photos.
Also on the front page are brief articles offering details about the June 8 commencement ceremony as well as changes to the gym requirements for sophomores, which take effect in the fall.
Page two includes editorials about the “bottle ordinance” mentioned above, the differences between WHS and Upper Arlington High School and the benefits of a volunteer army as an alternative to the military draft (a “Newsweek” photo accompanies this piece). There is also a prom-related letter to the editor.
Page three contains a feature story about senior John Rogers, a poem, a short story and reviews of the latest albums by the James Gang and Emerson Lake and Palmer. Page four includes coverage of the school’s track, tennis and golf teams, plus a photo taken at a recent baseball game.
