Background

The subject of this bookplate is Dorothy Ward, daughter of Colonel Harry Parker Ward of Worthington. Dorothy graduated from Worthington High School in 1910. Colonel Ward was a veteran of World War I, serving as major with the A.E.F. in France. Colonel Ward was in the printing business in Columbus, and active in the Kit-Kat Club and the Masons. The Kit-Kat Club is a literary society in Columbus. The book plate was created by artist George Bellows, originally of Columbus, Ohio. It appears in the "Old Northwest Genealogical Quarterly", October 1903.
