Obituary

Florence Bryan Belcher, age 84, Friday, August 29. Survived by son and daughter-in-law, Bryan and Margaret Belcher, Lebanon, Ind.; daughter, Gay Belcher Hadley, Columbus; 7 grandchildren, Stacy, Amy, and John Belcher, of Levanon, Ind., Katherine Hadley, St. Paul, Minn. Susan, Scott, and Lynne Hadley, Columbus; nieces, Mrs. Bennet Lord, New Britain, Conn., Mrs Thomas Ward, Summit, N.J.; nephew, E.B. Bryan II, of Bloomington, Ind.; brother-in-law, C. W. Sater, Falmouth, Mass. Mrs. Belcher was a graduate of Western for Women and servied there as both Trustee and President of the Alumnae Association. A teacher of English at South High School in Columbus for 25 years, she retired in 1963. Member Delta Kappa Gamma and the American Association of University Women. After retiement, Mrs. Belcher served as a substitute teacher and a volunteer worker for Headstart, Upward Bound, and the Columbus Literacy Program. A member of First Community Church since 1935, she belonged to Group e. of the Women's Guild. She served a term on the Board of Women and worked at the Trading Post. Private burial in Walnut Grove Cemetery. A service of memory will be held in the Burkhart Chapel at First Community Church Tuesday, September 2, 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, friends may wish to contribute to World Neighbors, a mission program of First Community Church.
