Background
Congregation Beth Tikvah's first Board of Trustees is pictured in this photograph. They were elected in October, 1961 and included (seated, l-r): Herbert Wagner, finance chair; Richard Goldgraden, president and religious services chair; Stanley Sandhaus, membership chair; (standing, l-r): Leonard Nachman, activities chair; Gordon Zeidman, building chair; Andrew Alpers, communication and publicity chair; Milton Vagins, community affairs chair. Not pictured: David Guttman, education chair. Beth Tikvah began in 1961. In the first year, the membership of the new Congregation Beth Tikvah numbered 34 families. By 2002 membership grew to 549 families in attendance, and 350 children in the religious school.
